Talk: The Legacy of Family Migration: 100 years of Mexican Migration to the U.S.

As part of the Lessons from the Past, Looking Towards the Future lecture series in collaboration with UTEP, Dr. Larisa Veloz, an Assistant Professor of History at UTEP with a focus on the history of U.S. and Mexico, and Mexican Migration will discuss how Mexican migrants faced an increasingly rigid border over time and how they reached out directly to government officials to make their voices heard. She'll highlight the long familial history of migration and show how families experienced separations and reunifications in the past. This talk will reveal migrant voices from the past, and will describe how the border and Mexican immigration has changed over the course of 100 years.
