Talk-The Inception of U.S. Diplomacy with the Hispanic World: Franklin and Spain’s Aid in the Independence of the United States

Historian Dr. Thomas E. Chávez, past Executive Director of the National Hispanic Cultural Center in Albuquerque, New Mexico, will be speaking about Benjamin Franklin’s role as a colonial diplomat who dealt directly with Spain. Dr. Chavez will also discuss Spain’s part in aiding the English colonies in their rebellious quest for Independence.  Dr. Chavez is a recipient of the Orden de Isabel la Católica, a civil order granted in recognition of services that benefit the Spain.
